Remember when we had you picture your favorite kind of pizza? Make your leadership pizza that kind of pizza!
What does your leadership style look like? What are some qualities you have that make you a good leader?
Write down one quality you exhibit in each slice of pizza.
Pick one or two of the qualities you added to your pizza and explain why you added them! For example, think back to our leadership pizzas we showed you - my "mushroom" said that I learned my patience from being a teacher.
Because of ____, I have learned the importance of being ____.
Detail/Decorate Your pizza
When I had to go through ____, it made me focus on and practice ___.
Share Your Pizza
Share your leadership pizza with the people around you! Start by sharing all of your slices, and the qualities on them. Then, share 1 of your detail (topping) pieces! We will give you three minutes to share!
Now let's hear from a couple people to share with everyone!
What's Our Point?
Something you should have noticed by now is that each and every one of you had a different pizza. Some of you had a pepperoni pizza, some had mushrooms, and some had pineapple. Similarly, your leadership qualities you listed about yourself were different too! Each of your pizzas represents a unique history, a rare set of experiences, a one-of-a-kind individual, and a specifically crafted leadership style. Each one is different, unique, and special in its own way!
Picture & think about your go-to pizza place. Do they only serve one kind of pizza? Do they have several different kinds? Picture & think about the group from your university that you're here with today. Do you only have one type of person? Do you all share the same experiences and knowledge? Or do you all bring something unique to the table?
It Takes All Of Us!
If you were to create and run a pizza shop, you'd need there to be more than one kind of pizza, right? It's the same for organizations and teams! If you want to have a successful team, you need to have many different kinds of leaders and leadership qualities!
Application: Why Should You Care?
We are all amazing leaders in our own unique ways. We all have different experiences, backgrounds, and personality traits that have shaped us into who we are today. Rather than being ashamed of or hiding those differences, embrace them! Use your differences to bring a rare perspective to the group! Lead in a way unique to you and your values! Be you!
