Fue al Cohen High School en New Orleans. Más tarde se enrolaría en el Ejército y participaría en la Operación Tormenta del Desierto.Su álbum de debut fue Mystikal, editado bajo Big Boy Records en 1995. Posteriormente firmó por Jive Records y grabó Mind of Mystikal en 1996. Tras las buenas ventas del disco, Master P le firmó para No Limit Records, donde lanzó su tercer álbum, Unpredictable, en 1997.
