Structural Support Techniques
Became known as "crude" or "barbaric". There was German Gothic, High Gothic, and many more subsets of the style. A lot of the concepts came from islamic architecture with the arches. The arches relieved a lot of the stress on the buildings, allowing for taller structures. Flying butresses were used to futher support large walls by putting pressure against the outside of the stucture. Many of the methods they used allowed for more massive structures.
