- Focused on ship building.
- Farming was difficult for all of the New England colonies, however corn, pumpkins, rye, squash and beans thrived in this environment.

- Main document was the Mayflower Compact. Massachusetts colony was self governed.
- Geography is rocky poor soil, trees, and mountains. This made farming difficult for the colonists.
- People living in the Massachusetts Bay Colony were puritans, better known as the pilgrims.
- The religion that these people followed was Christianity.
