Measures to preserve the lANGUAGE
In Livonian, measures to preserve the language are already being implemented:
Summer activities:- Livonian Summer University; - Livonian children’s and youth summer camp “Mierlinkizt”.
Measures to preserve the lANGUAGE
Livonian is used online:- The Livonian web portal livones.lv; - The Kolka website, which gives a Livonian word of the day on its front page.
Measures to preserve the lANGUAGE
Another Livonian online resource:
- Līvõ kēļ facebook page, which gives a Livonian word each day.
Linguistic diversity
The linguistic diversity contains drawbacks to global understanding, as each population speaks its own language.
This leads us to reflect on the importance of English, as a universal language.
Our point of view
This project helped us: - to reflect on the existence of a vast amount of endangered languages; - to see we are distracted from primordial issues.
Conclusion
- In conclusion, language defines a culture, through the people who speak it and what it allows speakers to say.-Many endangered languages have rich oral cultures. - With the extinction of a language, an entire culture is lost.
So, language defines not only what we say, but the way we think. It carries cultural background with it, tradition and much more.
the End
Now it´s time to do a Kahoot.
