Fertilization
After mating, sharks start the first phase of the life cycle which is the fertilization of the formed eggs.
Growth
Like other organisms, sharks go through growing phase before adulthood. This is when they start to be independent and separate from their parents.
Adulthood
Finally, sharks reach the final stage and is now ready for reproduction and repeat the same process all over again.
Reproduction
Reproduction is the process of producing individuals of the same kind. Depending on the number of parents involved, there are different modes of reproduction. In animals is two types of reproduction:
1. Sexual Reproduction2. Asexual Reproduction
Sharks have a specific life cycle with several stages of development, growth, and reproduction. They have two different reproductive methods: oviparous, in which the eggs are placed outside the mother's body and hatch externally, and viviparous, in which the embryos grow inside the mother and are delivered alive. Young sharks move into the growth stage after being born or hatching, during which they consume smaller prey and develop rapidly. Depending on the species, this phase can persist for several years. Sharks have a multiple of developmental changes as they grow, which helps them adapt to their environment and develop into effectual predators. Sharks continue to develop and reproduce throughout their lives, and some species can live exceptionally long lives and grow to vast sizes, which makes them an essential part of marine ecosystems.
Ways Sharks Reproduce
Ovoviviparous
Oviparous
Viviparous
producing young by means of eggs which are hatched within the body of the parent
gives birth to developed live young
producing eggs that develop and hatch outside the maternal body
Birth
When sharks are born, they are usually left by their parents. Newborn sharks also practice their survival and safety skills during this phase.
