Timeline: American Revolution

1775-1783

These were the first battles of the revolution commonly referred as "The shot heard round the world." Although they had lost the battle they still felt a sense of power because they were able to hold their own against "stronger" armies of the world.

This was considered the "acting government" because many were nervous to officially separate from England. Separation and peace was asked for but it was ignore entirely. Later George Washington was selected as leader of the army due to his experience in hope of creating a stronger army.

An impact that this had on was that it allowed women to experience using their voice for power. They sought independence and normal rights that males had. Abigail Adams is the woman who mentioned this to her husband knowing that she wasn't the only one who longed for independence.

The Declaration of Independence listed the complaints against the king. It stated how natural rights had been violated and how the people were not going to tolerate it anymore. This was a huge step when it came to the colonies winning their freedom from British rule.
