Essential components in teaching aids

There are some factors that teachers need to take notice while developing teaching aids.

Setting of goals and objectives for the learners

Assessment of the learner

Use an image

During developing a teaching aids teacher should access to all resources such as computer, video player, C.D. player, language lab, digital camera, white board etc, it will impact on decisions in material development.

Instructions for Designing Teaching Aids

Dual Channels: Different parts of the brain are used to process visual and auditory information. When video and audio reinforce each other, as when images or text on a slide reinforce a speaker’s point, learning is enhanced. However, if video and audio are misaligned, such as when slide text is different from the audio narration, the brain has to work harder, and learning can be negatively impacted.

Limited Capacity: Individuals can process a limited amount of information in each channel at one time. As such, instructors must carefully select pieces of information to include and make intentional decisions about how to present that information.

Active Processing: Learning happens when people can identify and access the important information in a lesson, process that information, and relate it to their prior knowledge. Good design can facilitate active processing.

Any text by itself is not the course but rather a tool that can be divided or cut up into components and then rearranged so as to suit the needs, abilities, interest, and expectations of the students comprising a course. Therefore, textbooks can be modified to incorporate activities that encourage students and move them beyond the constraints of the textbook

Thank you!

Did you know? 90% of the information we assimilate is received through sight? Visual resources are a huge help for reinforcing your materials: images, illustrations, gifs, videos ... Not only because they stay in our memories, but because they’re more attractive and easier to understand.
