Lexington & Concord

The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the American Revolution. The British aimed to control the colonists by destroying their weapons and arresting contrarians Samuelm Adams and John Hancock.

Second Continental Congress

In 1775, leaders met in PA to dicuss the formation of an army of colonists. As selected, George Washignton trained the colonists as soldiers to prepare for the strongest militia in the world.

Remember the Ladies

The women boycotted British goods, were nurses, took care of homes, and were educators. Abigail Adams, the wife of John Adams, was an advocate for women's rights in which she pleaded political participation where women would teach republican values.

This officaily separated Britian from the colonies where they could form a new government without being controlled. This inspired self-determination around the world and recognized America as an indpendent.

The crisis was a message from Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense, to the colonists. This message was to motivate the soldiers to re-enlist after their 3-6 months contract because they needed soldiers for the war.

Commonly known as the turning point in the War, the battle of Saratoga was a motivator for France. France helped the colonists and persuaded Spain to also help as well.
