Timeline: American Revolution

1775-1783

Significance/Importance of Battle:

Lexington & Concord

The battles of Lexington & Concord were both fought on April 19, 1775 and were the stepping stones for the American Revolution. Both were caused by the control the British wanted to establish over the colonies , and it result of colonial resistance. In Lexington the British wanted to arrest John Hancock & Samuel Adams who were both leaders in patriotic rebellion and in Concord, the British wanted to destroy the colonists form of defense in this case their weapons, these resistances are know as "The shot heard 'round the world.

Outcome of the Congress:

Second Continental Congress

The second Continental congress was created because of the lack of support from Britain, and as a result of the intolerable acts placed on the colonies. The delegates met up to create the continental army and put George Washington in charge because he was in the F/I war prior to the American Revolution.

Remember the Ladies

This letter written by Abigail Adams was created with to include women in the government and to give them the right to an education. As a result of this call to action, families were now taught republican values and women now had a more impactful role in government and society as a whole.

Written by Thomas as formal seperation from the colonies to Britan,they wanted to seperate because they rights were disobyed and not taken seriously. it mentions how Britan failed to support it colonies and treated them unfairly.

Impact of The Crisis:

Created specifcally for the purpose to reach Americans,and to support American troops. Troops weren't renlisted, so this document was made to persuade Americans to serve and fight for their country.

Battle of Saratoga

Significance of the Battle of Saratoga:

IThe British fought against the Americans, origanlly wanting to to attack about North and South but were unsucessful, at Saratoga they discovered they were ounumbered and ultimately captured. This caused them to unexpectially lose this battle and as a result, the French & Spanish joined the U.S. in Patrotic war.

Significance of Valley Forge:

Served as training camp for American troops,soldiers dealt with harsh winters, lack of food and clothes many died as a result. Washington recieved finacial and emotional support from Marquis de Layfayette of France and Baron von Steuben from Germany helped train troops.

Significance of the Battle of Yorktown:

Battle of Yorktown

Washington and Rochambeau a french general went to Yorktown,Virginia to Capture British general lord Charles Cornwallis. The French navy played a big part in surronding Gen.Cornwallis and ultimately caused the british to surrender.

Explain what America gains:

Treaty of Paris, 1783

Countries had to pay off their respective debts and britian returned slaves they'd taken, states gave back loyalist their land, U.S boundary is now pushed westward of the missippi and they also gained fishing rights. This is all a result of Britan finally viewing the U.S. as its own independent ountry.
