Martin Luther KIng Jr was shot and killed at a hotel on the second level in Memphis, Tennessee. His death shocked the world. He is known to be one of the best speakers and one of the biggest civll rights leaders. He is still known to this day for his hard work and dedacation. Do you guys know what his most famous spech was? It was the "I Have A Dream" spech.

This is the hotel that Martin Luther King was shot at. This is important because he was such a leader who fought for equality. To this day they have kept everything the same and have left it as it is. It is now called the National Civil Rights Museum.

This is Martin Luther Kings grave. You can go and see this in Atlanta, Georga. This is very important because he died for human rights. His body lays with his wife in a big and very memorable grave.

MLK has a big national memorial statue in Washington D.C. It was made in 2009 and is visited by many people every day. On the statue it has many quotes. It is truly inspirational to many.

Birmingham in 1963 was terrible. There was violence everywere. Martin Luther King came to help and was arrested. People kept getting arrested, so many that it seemed like there were no people left. Do you know who they got to help? They got people your age , children, to march. Its crazy to think that they had to go that far! They wanted equal rights for all. The Children's Crusade is one of the most known marches, when children stepped in to march for equal rights.

Kids were arrested in the march. More than 2,000 kids were arrested that day. They made the paper and made more people want to go out and help.

More than 3,000 troops showed up to protect the blacks. This quickly showed that they would never give up and that they needed equal rights. The whole US saw what was happening and many went to help.

Martin Luther King was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama. He was leading a peaceful protest with Ralph Abenrathy. He was arrested many times but never gave up.

"I Have a Dream"

This speech is one of the most important speeches given in US history. His speech was so inportant and helped give equality to everyone. He delivered this speech in Washington D.C. at the March on Washington.

This was the crowd. There were 200,000 people in atendence; it was packed. The speech about 17 minutes long. People of all color were all there to watch.

The Lincon memorial was behind Martin Luthur King during his speech. It was created and built 1914-1922. It standes 19 feet tall. Over 6 million people see it every year. This picture shows 2 men who both wanted freedom for all.

This is the reflecting pool at the memorial. You can still visit this site. The reflecting pool was made in 1923 after the Lincon Memorial was made. This pool is 2,029 feet long and 163 feet wide. The water symbolizes calmness; this location is ironic because of what he and others had to face to fight for equality was not calm.
