Lexington & Concord

The battles of Lexington and concord were the first battles of the American revolution. In lexington, British were going to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock and in Concord, British marched there to destroy weapons and amunition that the malitia was storing. Theses battles encuraged people to support the cause on independence

Second Continental Congress

The second continental congress was in 1775 in Philidelphia. One purpose of the meeting was to form the continetal army and George Washington was selected leader due to his expierence of fighting in the french and Indian war. Thier job was to manage the war effort and work twoards independence.

The declaration of Independence was creatd in 1776 and the primary author of it was Thomas Jefferson. This document was significant becasue it summarized motives for gaining indepence and a desire for natural rigts. The Declaration of Independence also listed grievences agians King George III.

In september 1781, Washington and Fr. Gen. Jean Rochambeau took land forces to Virgina and trapped Brit. Gen. Lord Charles Corwallis In Yorktown. This was a important victory that gave Americans thier indepence form England. The battle of Yorktown forced the British to surrender in Oct. 1781
