uses:

After the following verbs: admit avoid can’t help can't stand consider delay enjoy feel like finish go on keep (don´t) mind miss practice recommend spend (time) suggest stop tell I enjoy running. He admitted cheating on the test. The student denied arriving late to class.

INFINITIVE= TO + VERB

USES:

After certain verbs: agree arrange decide expect fail forget hope intend learn manage need offer plan pretend promise refuse remember seem try want would like. * I plan to be a teacher. * She decided to go home as soon as possible. * The teacher asked us to do the exercise.

The -ing form emphasises the action or experience. The to-infinitive gives more emphasis to the results of the action or event. We often use the -ing form to suggest enjoyment (or lack of it), and the to-infinitive form to express habits or preferences.

Stop + -ing means the action is not happening any more. I've stopped buying the newspaper because now I read the news online. Stop + to + infinitive means that someone or something stops an activity so that they can do something else.
