Past simple
Regular verbs
As a general rule, we add “ed” to regular English verbs to make them past. However, if the verb ends in “e,” we are only going to add a “d” to it.Examples: Visit → visited
Work → worked Bake → baked Simple Present Past simple Negative I wait I waited I didn't wait. You wait You waited You didn't wait. We wait We waited We din't wait.
End of the verb in consonant + “y,” we are going to change that “y” for an “i,” and we will add “ed.”
Examples: Study → studied Apply → applied
Dry → dried
End of the verb in vowel + “y,” we will only add “ed” to the verb. Examples: Enjoy → enjoyed Play → played
Destroy → destroyed
