It is a paedomorphic salamander originally from Mexico.
Status
Critically endangereddue to habitat degradation, pet trade and pollution
They can live up to 15 years and their diet consist of worms, small crustaceans and smaller fish.
Size
A mature axolotl ranges in length from 15 to 45 cm.
Weigth
they can weight between 2.1 and 8 ounces which is between 60 and 220 grams
Habitat
The axolotl is native only to the freshwater of Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco in the Valley of Mexico.
Population
The current population of axolotls is about 1,000 specimens
