• Born 1948 in Southern Oregon
• Obtained her Bachelors Degree in Political Science in 1970 from Willamette University
• Is Professor Emerita in the College of Education at California State University Monterey Bay
• Taught in Seattle's urban schools during desegregation of the 1970's
• Her research focuses on anti-racist multicultural education, ethnic studies, and teacher education
• Her most recent non-fiction book is Critical Race Theory and its Critics (with F. López, Teachers College Press, 2023)
