What was the climate like?

The Mesozoic Era is known as the "Era of the Reptiles" as they were successful from the start. These reptiles include: dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and a variety of marine species. Mammals, frogs, bees, and flowering plants had also began to thrive during this era.

This mass extinction had many causes but the largest was a massive asteriod hit Earth. This asteriod caused enormous amounts of ash to be released into the atmosphere, blocking sunlight and creating a "cold snap" to start.

The climate was generally warm and there was not as much of a temperature difference between the polar and equator latitudes, unlike today.
