Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1, 1955, for refusing to give up her seat for a white man. MLK Jr. started a boycott so the next day almost all of the buses were empty and the government had no choice but to take away the law that made african americans give away their seats for whites. The Montgomery Bus Boycott started on December 5th, 1955 and lasted until December 20th, 1956. It spanned 382 days, longer than a year!

The Childrens' March
Children were marching for freedom in Birmingham, Alabama. MLK was using children instead of adults to march just to show the brutality of the Birmigham Police force. People were horrified because the children were hurt with high-pressure fire hoses, police dogs, and were arrested. As a result of this, they desegregated the city.
