Event Planning

Your Objective.

You will be required to plan one event over this year. The first event will be for Christmas (week commencing 9th December 24.) You wil be expected to create a proposal in pairs for an event idea, your proposal must focus on the importance of meeting the needs of your client (NKC). This will be presented to a Panel and a decision will be made on what event will happen. You will then run this event. A budget will be given for these events and will you be expected to document how you are managing your finances, according to the knowledge acquired in your finance sessions. You will be expected to evaluate your event. We expect you to produce professional documents to showcase your event planning. You will need to review the UNIT criteria and ensure that this is covered within your planning. This will be discussed throughout the sessions and shown in your assignment. Make sure your utilise the wider college community and the local community. Ensure that you are log all learning from sessions on class note book to meet other criteria.

Unit summary: In this unit learners will explore how communication is used at events and barriers to communication. They will then look at Equality of Opportunity and discrimination. Finally they will investigate customer service and produce a guide for personnel who will be engaged in an event regarding expected customer service standards.

Unit summary: In this unit the learner will consider the different sectors when planning events and look at the duties of the Event Planner/Coordinator. They will then produce a plan for an event of their choice and explore the need for a contingency plan. Finally, they will investigate the importance of security as well as Health & Safety requirements and understand how to carry out a risk assessment at the selected event.
