Discussion Question
Why do you think Christina Koch started out her career in remote arctic regions? What similarities are there here and in space?
Koch started her career in winter conditions in Antarctica, Greenland and Alaska. She used scientific research to learn more about very remote regions. She even spent a full year living on the South Pole!
Christina Koch is famous because she has spent the most minutes in space of any female astronaut in the world: 328 days!Koch is an American astronaut who has worked at NASA since 2013.
Christina Hammock Koch is a NASA astronaut.
Koch has completed six spacewalks, three of which included only women. She has spent a total of 42 hours, 15 minutes walking in space! She has participated in three expeditions to the International Space Station with small teams of other astronauts.
Koch and ISS teams have completed hundreds of experiments during their expeditions. They have improved knowledge about 'dark matter', have grown crystals to help in medical research and have printed tissues in microgravity using 3D printers!Christina Koch has won many awards for her contributions to science and space exploration!Congratulations, Christina!
