Gateway Global American Youth and Business Alliance Academies (Gateway Global) is a tech-based workforce education, training, and apprenticeship management organization.

We help youth and young adults get the skills and credentials they need for career pathways in U.S. Critical Infrastructure (Defense, Homeland Security, Utilities, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Agriculture, etc.).

Introduction

This handbook aims to clarify the internship requirements and responsibilities of a Gateway Global Intern. As a Gateway Global intern, Gateway Global is providing the internship opportunity to prepare individuals for careers in current and next-generation technologies. The Gateway Global internship opportunity integrates formal academic study with practical, on-the-job work experience with Gateway Global and/or its partners.

A Successful Gateway Global Intern

Communicates well

Performs the job responsibilities of the internship position.

A successful intern displays an eagerness to learn, adapt, and approach tasks, while demonstrating initiative and a strong work ethic. An intern who collaborates with colleagues, contributes innovative ideas, and seeks opportunities for professional growth during their internship will have a dynamic experience.

Develops professional competencies gained through real-world working experience.

Interacts well with others

Shares their gifts and talents to meet organizational objectives

Contributes to the business objectives of Gateway Global.

Internship Elegibility

1. Completion of the GEOINT Technician-1 course, or equivalent training. 2. High school jr./sr., or college fr./soph., with a strong interest in geospatial analysis, urban planning, or related fields. 3. Familiarity with geospatial analysis software such as ArcGIS Online and Google Maps. 4. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. 5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 6. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Intern Responsibilities

1. Collect →• Collect and analyze data on factors such as population demographics, land use, transportation access, crime rates, and zoning regulations.

2. About →• Research and examine the historical development and evolution of each neighborhood.

3. Milestones →• Create maps, charts, and other visualizations to communicate key findings.

4. Team →• Collaborate with project team members to interpret and synthesize data.

5. Tools →• Present findings to project team members and company stakeholders.

6. Process →• Attend training and professional development opportunities as necessary

Standards

All Gateway Global interns are considered employees of Gateway Global and are thus required to uphold workplace standards as set by Gateway Global.

There are specific Do’s and Don’ts within each conduct requirement. Any infraction occurring will be addressed and may lead to internship dismissal.

Interns are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism. The conduct requirements listed below contain specific actions that are to be upheld

Sign a non-disclosure agreement, pledging not to disclose or share any confidential intellectual property, trade secrets, and data, during or after their internship.
