Gymnastics Ireland : GI fails to apologise despite row over medal snub for black girl
24/09/2023, The Guardian
Gymnastics Ireland suppressed a personal apology letter to a young gymnast.GI, the sport’s national governing body, did not make any commitment in public statements to investigate the incident, implement anti-racism policies, or improve protection for athletes of colour. For 18 months, it did not apologise to the family. Her mother is not being named to protect the privacy of the girl, who is a minor, and because of concerns the family could become targets of racist abuse.
The official in question has denied any racist behaviour, and had wanted to apologise to the family for the snub. This month the footage went viral again and Biles went public with a message of support for the girl and condemnation of her treatment.* -The board sent a letter of apology to the family on Sunday, and would make it public on Monday, they added.
-In response, the girl’s mother said the letter came too late and did not address core concerns because as for her, it is useless, because they are not addressing the issues of racism and safety.
The girl did eventually receive a medal.

Neuralink : Elon Musk's brain chip company has obtained authorisation to carry out studies on humans in the USA and is looking for tests trial
26/05/2023, 21/09/2023 BBC News
Neuralink hopes to use its microchips to treat conditions such as paralysis and blindness, and to help certain disabled people use computers and mobile technology.
The chips - which have been tested in monkeys - are designed to interpret signals produced in the brain and relay information to devices via Bluetooth.
The company - which was co-founded by Mr Musk in 2016 - has repeatedly overestimated the speed at which it can execute its plans.
In May 2023, Neuralink won the US approval for human study, an earlier bid by Neuralink to win FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval was rejected on safety grounds. This year in May, Neuralink have said they don’t had immediate plans to start recruiting participants. But on 21 September, so about 4 months later, Neuralink announced search humans to begin tests on the human’s volunteers.Indeed, a robot would be used to surgically place 64 flexible threads, thinner than a human hair, on to a part of the brain that controlled "movement intention", the company said.
Singapore GP : Carlos Sainz wins and interrupts Max Verstappen's run of 10 consecutive victories
17/09/2023, The Guardian
Formula One considering quite what a show it would have without Red Bull’s dominance this season, the Singapore Grand Prix delivered a glimpse of this much-anticipated future, a spectacle beyond even the sport’s most wishful thinking. When Sainz crossed the line only a second separated the top three, a finish such as we have not seen during the whole season since Red Bull made a flying start in Bahrain. Sainz acknowledged quite what a battle it had been.
Norris was able to take advantage of his old friend Sainz, who with no little tactical just allowed him to stay within DRS range to hold the place against the Mercedes. Every skill, every edge was on display in a gladiatorial finale from which Sainz emerged as a worthy winner. Sainz's team-mate Charles Leclerc, also from the Ferrari team, finished 4th in the race.
Ultimately, Max verstappen finally finished 5th, which is still an awesome result given that he started the race in 11th place.
