The Commons is publicly elected. The UK public elects 650 Members of Parliament (MPs) to represent their interests and concerns in the House of Commons. MPs consider and propose new laws, and can scrutinise goverment policies by asking ministers questions about current issues either in the Commons Chamber or in Cmmittes

The House of Lords

The House of Lords is the second chamber of the UK Parliament. There are about 800 members in the House of Lords but there isn't a maximum number. Their work is similar: making laws (legislation, checking the work of the government (scrutiny), and debating current issues.

THE MONARCH

The monarch is the head of state. this means that he or she is the main representative of the country, but has very limited political power. The British monarch is also the head of state in some Commonwealth countries (an association of ex-British colonies), like Australia, New zealand and Canada

The Prime Minister is the leader of His Majesty's Government and is ultimately responsible for all policy and decisions
