What are atoms made up of?

1. What are atoms made up of?

Protons have a positive electrial charge.
Electrons have a negative electrical charge.
Neutrons are neutral and have no electrical charge.

Protons

Protons have a positive charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom. The number of protons of an atom is called the atomic number.

Protons

Protons have a positive charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom. The number of protons of an atom is called the atomic number.

Neutrons

Neutrons have no charge and are found in the nucleus with protons. The total number of protons + neutrons is the atomic mass of an atom.

Electrons

Electrons have a negative charge and orbit around the nucleus of an atom.

2. Matter

Matter makes up all substances. Everything is made of matter.

3. Elements

An element is a type of atom.
