> someone who doesn't have one real faction, the test is often unconclusive, it shows 2 factions > the society wants them to be removed

> at the age of 16> it shows you the faction that fit you the best > the main character has a test unconclusive

Why it is a dystopian story ?

> you must agree with the rules of the society> if you are different, you are killed > there is no regard for individual freedoms > the divergent represent a source of fear because they have many feelings, the government can't control them

What inspired the author ?

She transposed this study into a dystopia where society would be conducted and organized according to the different fears of its citizens.
