Teslacope (1889)

The Teslascope was created by Nikola Tesla in 1899 during his experiments in Colorado Springs. It is a receiver designed to detect long-distance radio signals and to communicate with beings in space. The Teslascope consisted of a tower similar to a Tesla coil, modified to be able to receive long-distance radio signals. However, the Teslascope was never fully developed or used in practice.

Origin (1856)

Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, present-day Croatia, on July 10, 1856. He was the son of Milutin Tesla, an Orthodox priest; his mother, Djuka Mandic, whose father was also an Orthodox priest. His parents were from western Serbia, near Montenegro

Education (1872-1880)

Nikola Tesla received his education in several institutions. He attended primary school in Smiljan, where he studied German, arithmetic, and religion. Later, he studied at the Gymnasium Karlovac from 1870 to 1873, and then at the Technical University of Graz from 1875 to 1878

Invention (1882)

In 1882, Nikola Tesla began working for the Continental Edison Company in Paris, France. He worked on designing and improving electrical equipment, including indoor incandescent lighting citywide in large scale electric power utility. Tesla worked at the Société Electrique Edison, the division in the Ivry-sur-Seine suburb of Paris in charge of installing the lighting system. During this time, Tesla invented a device for telephone sound amplification and discovered the rotating magnetic field and the multiphase currents producing it

Initiation (1881)

In 1881, Nikola Tesla moved to Budapest, Hungary, where he worked for the newly-established Hungarian Telegraph Office. There, he was recognized for his abilities and was quickly promoted to manager of the telephone company. It was during this time that Tesla invented a device for telephone sound amplification and discovered the rotating magnetic field and the multiphase currents producing it

Death of Nicola Tesla (1943)

Nikola Tesla died on January 7, 1943, at the age of 86, in Room 3327 of the Hotel New Yorker in New York City. His body was found by a maid, Alice Monaghan, who entered Tesla's room, ignoring the "do not disturb" sign that Tesla had placed on his door two days earlier. The cause of death was determined to be coronary thrombosis

Nikola Tesla recognized (1915)

In 1915, Tesla and Edison were expected to share the Nobel Prize, however neither of them ended up winning it. Despite this, the press always recognized Tesla as the man who should have won the Nobel Prize in physics. His only real award was the Édison Medal awarded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering..

Employment (1884-1886)

In 1884, Nikola Tesla immigrated to the United States and arrived in New York City with four cents in his pocket, a few of his own poems, and calculations for a flying machine. He first found employment with Thomas Edison at the Edison Machine Works in New York City
