- In 395 AD, the Emperor Theodosius divided the Empire between his sons Arcadius and Honorius. It was divided into:
- The Eastern Roman Empire: the richest and most populous part, where emperors maintained their authority and defended themselves from the barbarians.
- The Western Roman Empire: the poorest part, which the emperors could not protect.
*We still have many remains of the Roman Empire in our world today:
-Many roads still follow the routes of roman roads. -The latin language still survives:
- The academic names of flowers and animals.
- Many schools, football clubs and coins.
- The names of the months and the names of the planets.
- The French, Italian and Spanich languages are all based on latin.
