Anchor
This element is used to get the student's attention and "anchor" them into project. This element sparks ideas that students may have about the project, topics to be covered or the issue that is discussed.
Task
The element, Task, tells the students WHAT they are to complete during this project-based learning experience. It is mutiple parts used to make a whole.
Directions
Directions is the element that GUIDES students through out the process and how to achieve each task and utimately the end goal of the project.
Student Choices
The text states that with in the element, some of the choices that students are:
- steps to complete the project
- group member roles and responsibilities
- information resources to use
- format for the task
PROCESS
Teacher Coaching and Feedback
Collaboration and Teamwork
Student Inquiry
Teacher Coaching and Feedback is an essential element in the project-based leaning experience. While still student-centered, the teacher is providing guidance, adressing questions and suggestions for improvement while they complete their tasks.
This element is one that is the most common. Collaboration and Teamwork can serve in both postive and negative manners. In the postive manner is puts students together based on strengths and weaknesses to achieve successful product. It can also be negative in nature for students that might be reluctant to work with others.
The element of Student Inquiry allows students to evaluate the research and formulate methods to complete the tasks of the project or how to solve the problem
Student Reflection
Student Reflection allows students to evaluate not only themselves individually, but the group as a whole. Students also evaluate the process that they experienced during the project-based lerning process.
Public Presentation
The Public Prsentation element is usually the last task to be completed in the project-based learning experience. In the past, students will stand before classmate, industry professionals and their instructor and present their findings and product. There is usually criteria and grade for this single task.
