Superlatives
Theory/Grammar
The superlative is used to describe something that is at the upper or lower degree of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest).
WHEN WE USE IT?
Positive
Structure of superlatives
Noun (subject) + am-is-are+superlative adjective + complements
Interrogative
Negative
Noun (subject) + am not-isn't-aren't+superlative adjective + complements
am-is-are+ Noun(subject)+ superlative adjective + complements
Long Adjetives
Short Adjetives
- Two or more syllables
- We add ''the most'' before the adjetive.
- One syllable
- Two syllables ended in consonant + y (e. g. happy, dirty, bussy...)
- We add -est at the end of the adjetive.

The comparative is used when you want to compare two diffrent concepts and set diffrences between shared characteristics ( is smaller, is taller, is smarter, is faster).

Noun (subject) + verb + comparative adjective + than/as + noun
Interrogative
Negative
Noun (subject) + verb (negative) + comparative adjective + than/as + noun
Verb + noun (subject) + comparative adjective + than/as + noun
