When talking about what we like, we have to use this specific structure:

LA PASTALA PIZZAIL GELATOLA COCA-COLALA FRUTTAIL PESCE....

We use the same structure to talk about activities that we like doing

When talking about what we do not like, we simply have to add NON at the beginning of the structure:

LA PASTAIL GELATOLA COCA-COLAIL PESCECANTARE BALLARE....

non mi piace

When we talk about more than one thing that we like, some elements will change:

mi piace la cioccolata

mi piacciono i biscotti

MI PIACE or MI PIACCIONO? Choose the correct option for each word

When we want to ask somebody about their likes and dislikes, some elements in the sentence will have to change:

mi piace la cioccolata

I like chocolate

ti piace la cioccolata ?

Do you like chocolate?

We actually have two ways of talking about what we like:

mi piace la pizza

a me piace la pizza

If you want to talk about somebody else's likes and dislkes, you just need to add the preposition A before their names:

A MARIA PIACE IL SUSHI

Maria likes sushi

A LUCA NON PIACCIONO I NOODLES

Luca doesn't like noodles

But we can also talk about somebody's likes and dislikes without using their names and using a pronoun* instead:

a maria piace la cioccolata

Maria likes chocolate

a lei/ le piace la cioccolata

She likes chocolate

*A pronoun is a small word we can use to substitue for a name

One more example. We have 3 options for saying that Claudia likes coffee:

A Claudia piace il caffè

A lei piace il caffè

le piace il caffè

We can do the same thing when talking about a boy, but in this case the some elements in the sentences will be different. Can you tell what are the differences?

Alex: Ragazzi, vi piace il gelato? Joey: Si, mi piace tantissimo! Soprattutto al cioccolato e alla vaniglia. Lara: A me non piace il gelato, preferisco le caramelle e i biscotti. Alex: A me non piace la vaniglia, mi piacciono le caramelle. Joey: Anche a me! Vi piacciono le verdure? Alex: A me si, ma non tutte: mi piace l'insalata ma non mi piacciono i pomodori e i broccoli. Lara: A me piacciono tutte le verdure e mi piace tutta la frutta!
