1. Once you receive your rock, please pick your first paint color and pour it into your paint palette.2. Answer the counselor's questions as you paint a design on your rock. The design should be something that reminds you of someone that you have lost. 3. Place your rock into the zen garden.

- Identify the emotions associated with grief
- Explain your own grief process
- Demonstrate coping strategies that may help to manage your grief

- May develop positive relationships with other students
- Will practice identifying and expressing emotions in a safe environment
- Will practice coping strategies in a safe environment
- Will lose out on instructional time
- Will have to complete any missing classwork
- Some content may elicit an emotional response
"The records of this small group will be kept private. All signed informed consents and parental consent forms will be kept separate from any collected group work to protect the confidentiality of participants and only I will have access to the assessment tools. All information shared during the group will be kept private except under rare circumstances (i.e., you pose harm to yourself or another student)."
