What is it?

Plague is an infectious disease of bacterial origin, which is transmitted from mouse fleas to humans. The term pestilence or plague comes from the Latin pestis, "destruction, great disease". The plague can be of three types bubonic, septicaemic and pulmonary.

Flagellants

Historcal period

the traditional authorities (both civil and ecclesiastical) were accused of being the reason for the plague. Many peasants were dead, many towns and villages abandoned, this led to a climate of tension. In particular the flagellants were a religious organization that moving from city to city, flogged and asked sinners to ask forgiveness from God. This led to an increase in plague cases and the release of the plague.

in addition the movement of the flagellants were often related as persecutors of Jews
