Apple seeds contain amygdalin, which is a cyanogenic glycoside composed of hydrocyanic acid and sugar. When amygdalin is absorbed by the body, it disintegrates into HCN, otherwise known as hydrogen cyanide. HCN is highly poisonous and can result in death within a few minutes if enough seeds are consumed.
apple seeds can indeed be poisonous, but it takes quite a few of them to kill you and only if they have been crushed.
