What is SAMR?

The SAMR model, developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, is a framework for educators to integrate technology into their teaching. It consists of four levels: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. Substitution involves using technology to perform the same task as before. Augmentation involves using technology to enhance the task. Modification involves using technology to significantly alter the task. Redefinition involves using technology to create new tasks that were previously inconceivable. This model helps educators evolve their use of technology to enhance and transform learning experiences.

What is PICRAT?

The PICRAT model is a framework designed to guide the integration of technology into educational settings. It stands for 'Students' Participation, Interaction, Critical thinking, and Technology Relevance, Adoption, and Integration'. It emphasizes the active involvement of students in learning, the interaction between students and teachers, the development of critical thinking skills, and the appropriate adoption and integration of technology into teaching and learning processes. The model helps educators to design effective technology-integrated lessons to enhance learning outcomes.

1 Key Difference Between PICRAT & SAMR

PICRAT

SAMR

A hierarchical model that guides educators from basic to advanced levels of technology integration. Example: Moving from Substitution (e.g., replacing textbooks with e-books) to Redefinition (e.g., collaborating on a information gathering online).

A non-hierarchical model that considers three dimensions of technology use (Planning, Interaction, Reflection) simultaneously. Example: A teacher might plan a lesson using technology (Planning), actively engage students with the technology during the lesson (Interaction), and then assess the effectiveness of the technology in achieving the learning objectives (Reflection).

What is TPACK?

The TPACK model is an educational framework that integrates three key forms of knowledge: Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge.
