Manga is a style of comic books and graphic novels that was developed and popularized in Japan. Like all comics, manga have pictures with text bubbles. The word manga means “funny pictures” in Japanese. Originally, they were created only for children but now people of all ages enjoy reading manga. In Japan manga chapters are usually published weekly or monthly in magazines. Manga typically are printed on poor-quality paper, and the images are in black and white, with only a few pages of color. This makes manga inexpensive to buy. There are many types of manga: action, adventure, comedy, romance, science fiction, mystery, and horror.
