history
The original structure of Kensington Palace dates back to the 17th century, now known as Nottingham Palace. It was built by the Duke of Nottingham for his son, who then sold it in 1689 to William III (he suffered from asthma and the palace was far from the polluted air of the city of London). It was later extended by the architect Sir Christopher Wren, however, due to a fall from a horse, William III died inside the palace where Queen Anne later stayed. In 1722 the painter William Kent painted, commissioned by George I, various rooms of the palace including the dome room where Queen Victoria was later born.

Queen Victoria was born on 24 May 1819 at 4.15am in Kensington Castle. She spent a very sad childhood due to the death of her father the Duke of Kent, for this reason she always looked for a male figure as a point of reference.
She lived in Kensington palace until the age of 18 when she received the news that due to the death of her uncle, she became the new heir to the throne.
Inside the residence she also met her beloved Prince Albert precisely on the castle stairs. The first private council of what would be a very long reign known as the Victorian age was also held there, which would only be surpassed later by his great-great granddaughter Elizabeth. She was a queen of many passions and was also the last British sovereign of the House of Hanover. Queen Victoria died at the age of 81 due to a brain death which occurred after a long period of confusion at 6.30pm on 22 January 1901, funerals were celebrated a week later precisely on 2 February and accompanied by two days of national mourning

STRUCTURE
Kensington Palace, a baroque style castle, located right in the heart of London, stands out for the red color of the bricks, in Jacobean style, and for its size quite small to be a royal palace. The original building, known as Nottingham House, it was modified by the architect Sir Christopher Wren and his assistant Hawksmoor and subsequently by William Kent; Wren built two pavilions outside the palace, the royal apartments, the great staircase, a council chamber and a chapel, two side wings to form the court of honour.
William Kent carried out some works, such as the painting of the King's Staircase in black Irish marble steps, and decorated with a splendid wrought iron balustrade and the ceilings of some rooms; he designed the dome room, the main and prestigious reception room of the palace, designed precisely for its characteristic domed ceiling. At the time, the private road from the building to Hyde Park Corner was built. Around there was a large expanse of land, from which fruit and vegetables could be obtained for the court. An L-shaped artificial lake (Serpentine Lake, created at the behest of Queen Caroline)
separates Hyde Park from Kensington Gardens: the two parks, even if distinct, actually form a single immense green space.

the dress designed by Giles Deacon for Billy Porter at the 2020 Oscars was inspired by Kensington Palace! The Roman statue seen on the skirt represents one of the most iconic rooms of the palace, the Cupola Room.
The Beatles, Peter Sellers, Elizabeth Taylor, Britt Eckland, Rudolph Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn attended one of the parties organized at Kensington Palace by Princess Margaret, a great lover of dancing, singing and special occasions.
