  • Does the assessment measure what it is supposed to measure (or are we measuring what students can write about from memory?)
  • Does it measure the skills, knowledge and attributes it was designed to cover?
  • Is it assessing skills at the right academic level?
  • How closely does the assessment link to the things learners may need to do in employment or in the real world?
  • Has the use of AI been designed into the assessment (or consciously designed out)?
  • Does the assessment result in learning which is worthwhile?
  • Is the assessment practicable in terms of time, resources, student numbers?
  • Does the time required to complete an assessment match its value in terms of credits / weighting?
  • Would different assessors award the same piece of work the same score? Would the same assessor award the same score at a different time?
  • Can we justify the score awarded to students?
  • Does the assessment content and format ensure that no particular categories of learners are disadvantaged (or advantaged)?
  • How are we assured we are assessing students' own work?
  • Is the assessment process clear?
  • Are the standards and criteria clear and understood by both assessor and student?
  • How confident are you that there are no 'hidden agendas'?
