RESPIRATORY SYSTEM IN FISH
DEFINITION:
The respiratory system in fish is a set of organs and structures that allow them to extract oxygen from the water and eliminate carbon dioxide. Fish breathe through gills, which are specialized organs that are responsible for a process called gill respiration and are essential for the survival of fish.
Fish have a special organ called gills, which are shaped like fans and are located on the sides of their heads. These gills consist of many thin filaments and plates filled with blood vessels. When a fish opens its mouth, water flows in and passes through the gills. Here, oxygen in the water enters the blood, while carbon dioxide is removed. The water then exits through openings called opercula, similar to lids that cover the gills. This way, the fish keeps a constant flow of water and oxygen through its gills.

DISEASES AND TREATMENTS
-Fungus or saprolegniosis in fishes: attack flaps and bronchi Treatment: Remedy against fungi and Vitamin supply. -Gill worm: Lack of isolation of a new fish. Treatment: Fresh water bath or potassium permanganate -White spot disease: It is due to poor feeding or overpopulation of fish. Treatment: Increase water temperature and malachite green for seven days.
