Plot

First act

This act introduces the main characters like Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and opens with the witches who predict Macbeth's future. • Macbeth receives the news that he will be king and begins to contemplate the murder of King Duncan for obtain the throne. • Lady Macbeth, determined and ambitious, she instigates Macbeth to murder the king. • The act culminates in the assassination of King Duncan by part of Macbeth and in the discovery of his body.

Second act

• Macbeth becomes king and begins to sink in paranoia and guilt. • Banquo becomes suspicious of the actions of Macbeth, but is murdered by assassins hired by the new king. • Macbeth is tormented by visions of the ghost of Banquo and from the fear of the prophecies of witches.

Third act

• Macbeth tries to consolidate his power, but he discovers that Banquo has a son, Fleance, which could threaten his kingdom. • Macbeth has Banquo murdered, but Fleance escape. • Macbeth continues to kill to protect his throne and becomes more and more tyrannical.

Fourth act

• Macbeth consults the witches again, which reveal further prophecies to him, • There is a conspiracy against Macbeth, led by Malcolm, son of Duncan, and Macduff. • Macbeth orders the murder of the family of Macduff, causing him to become angry.

Fifth act

• Lady Macbeth is tormented by guilt and she descends into madness. • Malcolm and Macduff's army prepares to fight Macbeth. Macbeth fights with Macduff in a duel and comes killed. • The tragedy ends with the victory of Malcolm and the Restoration of Order.

Macbeth is the protagonist of the tragedy. Initially he is a valiant scottish general but his ambition pushes him to commit terrible acts. After met the witches, he becomes obsessed from the desire to become king. His Characterization evolves from loyalty and nobility initials to fear, paranoia and tyranny. In the end he is defeated in a battle and killed.

Lady Macbeth

Lady Macbeth is the wife of Macbeth and is an influential character in the fall of him. She is ambitious, manipulative and ruthless. She urges Macbeth to kill Duncan to get the throne, but it comes in the end tormented by guilt and madness. This figure represents moral corruption.

King Duncan

Duncan is the King of Scotland at the beginning of history. He is a just and benevolent ruler, but his death paves the way for the rise of Macbeth and the subsequent ruin of the kingdom. Macduff is a Scottish nobleman and one of Macbeth's main opponents. In the end, he is the one who defeats Macbeth in one battle and kills him to bring justice and stability in Scotland.
