- In new york many of the business were based off of manufacturing and agriculture agriculture was a big part of new york because of their nice weather which made new york good farming land.

Goverment and politics
- New York known as New Amsterdam, was the capital of New Netherland under Dutch rule.
- The Dutch selected Peter Minuit to be the governor of New Amsterdam.
- In 1664 the British took over New Amsterdam and renamed it New York.
- 1664 - 1686 it was a proprietary colony.
- -1689 - 1776 it became a Royal colony.
- -Joined the United states july 26th 1788

- The Dutch was the first to settle along the Hudson River in 1624.
- The dutch established the first colony called New Amsterdam.
- In 1664 the English took control of the land and renamed it New York.
- New York played a big part in the 13 colonies and in the American Revolution.
