ACTIVE VOICE

STRUCTURE

The active voice tells that the person or thing does, in this case the subject is doing the action (verb).

PASSIVE VOICE

The passive voice tells what is done to someone or something, so the subject of the sentence receives the action.

STRUCTURE

EXAMPLES:

ACTIVE: Jake will write a new song. Passive: A new song will be written by Jake.
ACTIVE: Jin sings lovely songs. Passive: Lovely songs are sung by Jin.
OBJECT+ VERB+ SUBJECT

SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT

ACTIVE: Roberto posted a new photo. Passive: A new photo was posted by Roberto.
ACTIVE: Edgar drove his car off the road. Passive: The car was driven off the road by Edgar.
ACTIVE: Webster painted the wall. Passive: The wall was painted by Webster.
