Key Skills

Problem-Solving You’ll experience many challenges throughout your HR journey; it’s your role to solve these challenges calmly and successfully. You’ll rely on your research skills, strong communication and technical knowledge to help the organisation overcome any obstacles.

Analytical Skills “HR is all about people, so why do you need to be at analysing data?” you might wonder. Well, in order to devise budgets, develop strategies and measure employee engagement and performance, amongst other things, you’ll need to be good at analysing data - don’t underestimate the importance of this skill!

CommunicationTo thrive in HR, you’ll need to be a top-notch communicator! You’ll constantly be dealing with people, so you’ll need to be an excellent active listener, empathetic, confident, and able to relay information clearly and effectively. You’ll also need to pay attention to your body language - an often overlooked communication skill.

Conflict Resolution Conflict resolution is an essential part of any HR role. Your job is to enable a calm dialogue between disputing parties and create a safe space for people within the organisation to voice their concerns and explain their points. You’ll focus on helping both parties to find solutions to the conflict and relieve tensions.
