Follow the correct order of an assignment
Format the assignment in terms of font size, font type, alignment and line spacing.
Assignment Structure
When writing your assignment, it should be structured in the following way:
- Cover Page
- Table of Contents
- Introduction
- Body
- Conclusion
- References

Name and number of study assignment or unit
College Name and Logo
Department name
Academic Year
Student Name and University Number
Date of submission
Submitted to
Table of contents
Table of content includes
- Titles
- Sections
- Page numbers
The table of contents provides a structured list of what your work includes.
It is included at the beginning of the assignment, allowing the reader to learn about the information and content included.
Table of contents format
- Font type: Times New Font
- Font size: 12
- Line Spacing: 2
- Margins: 1''
- Alignment: English: left, Arabic: right
- Length: not more than 2 pages
- Titles: written in the titles section
Introduction
- The introduction helps the reader understand where you're going in your assignment, how you'll get there and what he/she will see along the way.
- The introduction should include:
- the topic sentence- identify the most important concepts relevant to answer the question.
- Objective - To indicate the focus or purpose of the task
- Limit/scope - mention any limits to your assignment. What will you emphasize? Will you deliberately leave anything?
- Structure- Indicate how information is provided in the task, and the order in which the main points will appear
- Argument/Thesis Statement - Define your argument clearly.
Body
The body consists of structured paragraphs to reflect your critical thinking about the question and the order chosen to present your argument.
Each paragraph should include:
Topic sentence. Each paragraph begins and expresses the main idea of the paragraph
Evidence and examples. Contains explanations to support the main point of the paragraph. Supporting evidence is used to justify, explain or develop your argument.
Concluding sentence - Links the main idea of the paragraph to your argument and assignment topic.
* * * The number of paragraphs in your assignment depends on the length of your assignment and the number of points you wish to discuss.
Conclusion
The conclusion comes at the end of your assignment, summarizing the main points discussed.The conclusion should include:- No new ideas or information
- Mention your main points briefly
- Link the main points directly to the question or argument.
- You can also make future recommendations, assess your argument or predict patterns of change.
The Referencing Style used at LTUC is the Harvard Style of Referencing
