What is power? Joseph S. Nye Jr. defines it as “the ability of actors to achieve their prefferred outcomes”

The two main things that define power is: Power as resources (Having economy, population, territory, military force, etc.) The skill to turn resources into outcomes.

There are two ways to use the power

Known as hard and soft power

HARD POWER

Make others do what you want, even if they don’t want to. Often is related with threatens or the use of weapons, but it is not necessary like that.

SOFT POWER

Make others genuinelly want what you want. Giving reasons to someone to do something, and you convince that person is an example of soft power.

Also, there is one more, Smart Power:

Is a balance between hard and soft power. Using hard power to reach your outcomes and then using soft power to convince others to think that your way is the best way is called Smart Power.
