Work-Based Learning Experiences
Career and Technical Education
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Career and Technical Education Pathway. (Caretakers may remember these as Vo-techs.) Engagement in the trades is something CCA can really get behind – that’s where the jobs are! But instead of a Career and Technical Center -where the road ends with Gr. 12 - CCA really leans into robust postsecondary partnerships in the trades via the Evidence-Based Graduation Pathway, where you’ll find two options:
- “Successful completion of any concurrent or postsecondary course” allows students to begin their post-secondary studies while they’re still in high school! We call these CHS at CCA and the best part of these options are the stackable credentials students can earn. These credentials mean better jobs with higher pay!
- “Acceptance into an institution of higher education” – this means admission to a trade or technical school, a community college, or any postsecondary school relative to the student’s interest.

CCA Internship Course Information Students participating in the CCA Internship Course have the unique opportunity to explore a specific career over 60 or more hours. While at CCA, students enrolled in the Internship Course, will receive a 0.5 high school credit upon successful completion of the internship. Students may complete two internships while at CCA. The Internship Course is offered each Fall, Spring, and Summer. Fall and Spring Semester internships take place over a 15-week period, while Summer Semester internships occur over a 6-week period. Students may identify their own internship host or select from pre-identified internship hosts**. Participating in a CCA-approved internship begins with students submitting an Internship Application. For more information about CCA Internships, email internships@ccaeducate.me. CCA Cooperative Education Program (Co-Op) Co-Op is a structured way schools combine classroom and work-based learning. Co-Op requires the agreement of the learner, caretaker, school, employer, and others. Learners gain valuable on-the-job training, while earning HS credit for graduation, AND being paid for their work! For more information on Co-Op, please contact your School Counselor. Co-Op Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
CCA College in the High School Information CCA’s College in the High School (CHS) Program offers CCA high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12 the opportunity to enroll in rigorous college-level courses to earn both college & high school credits that fulfill graduation requirements for CCA. Courses are offered at no cost to students who qualify. All five Career Pathways are available and partnerships with trade and technical schools, community colleges, and four-year institutions are all available! Contact your School Counselor or CCA's College & Career Counselor (spolinchak@ccaeducate.me) for more information about the benefits of CHS and how to sign-up! Johnson College: Industry Fast Track (IFT) Information CCA has partnered with Johnson College to offer its Industry Fast Track (IFT) early college program to students in grades 11 & 12. This two-year program allows students to complete their freshman year of college at CCA while earning both college and high school credits. Students who complete this two-year program will earn either an Associate degree in their major, or an academic certificate, and be eligible for other certifications. CCA will cover the tuition for the first year of this two-year program. For more information on Industry Fast Track, email internships@ccaeducate.me.
