Matter is anything that takes up space and can be weighed. In other words, matter has volume and mass. There are many different substances, or types of matter, in the universe.

Density

Density is a fundamental physical property that allows us to understand how matter is organized and distributed in the universe. It is a characteristic that reveals the compactness of a substance (how compact it is) and its relationship between the mass and the volume it occupies. Imagine a simple question: Why does a massive steel ship float on the water, while a small metal coin sinks rapidly? The answer to this enigma is found in the density of both objects.

The formula for calculating density is Density (ρ) = Mass (m) / Volume (V) Where: ρ is the density in units of mass per unit of volume (for example, grams per cubic centimeter or kilograms per cubic meter). m is the mass of the object or substance in units of mass (for example, grams or kilograms). V is the volume of the object or substance in units of volume (for example, cubic centimeters or cubic meters).

Matter, the basic substance that makes up everything around us, has the fascinating ability to exist in different forms known as "aggregation states." These states refer to the different ways in which the particles that make up matter are organized and related to each other. We will dive into the states of aggregation: solid, liquid, gaseous and plasma.

Gaseous state: the particles are widely separated and move freely in all directions. Gases do not have a definite shape or volume, as they expand to completely fill any container that holds them. Plasma State: Plasma is an exotic state of aggregation of matter found in extreme conditions, such as in stars and interstellar space. In plasma, atoms ionize and separate into electrons and charged nuclei. It is a highly energetic and electrically conductive state.

The particles are further apart than in the solid state and can slide and flow past each other. Although they still maintain some cohesion, they do not have an ordered structure. Liquids take the shape of the container that contains them, which means that they do not have a definite shape, but do have a constant volume.
