As the second biggest English-speaking country, India's first spoken lenguages are Hindi and English. This country have had lots of western influences; even so, it's culture is strong enough to keep their traditions and receive modernization in the same way.On the other hand, India has a population of 1.428 millions habitants inside it's surface of 3'287.000km2. These people independence from the Britain Empiree was the 15 August 1947, very recently!

NEPAL

An small country between two giants (China in the north and India in the rest of the country); Nepal's surface is 141.181km2. With a very rich cultural and historical heritage; but, is considered one of the least developed nations in the world.Their oficial idiom is Nepalese and Hinduism is the primary religion in the country. It also have lots of reliefs: cradled by Mount Everest, crossed by the Himalaya and large fertile plains, yet, a landlocked place.

With a total area of 38.394km2 and 763.000 habitants, The Kingdom of Bhutan is a landlocked country at the slopes of Himalayas. As it's considered like one of the poorest country's in the world, is also known as the "country of happiness", due to the happiness index used instead of the PIB in their population to calculate people's quality of life. It's capital is Thimpu and it counts about 200.000 people. Also, their currency is the Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN), but the Indian Rupee (INR) is also used widely.

With it's capital as the largest city in the country, Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated cities in the world with more than 160million population in 148.460km2. The oficial lenguage is Bengali, also known as Bangla. And, the official currency is Taka. The religion of the country is Islam, but, it's principally thanks to the history of these people's religion beliefs. Moreover, there is a lot of Muslims in the country too. Finally, Bangladesh independece from Pakistán was in 1971 after a long war.

With a total surface of 65.610 Km2 and also known as the "tear of India". Sri Lanka counts with a population of 22'156.000 people. It's national currency is Sri Lankan Rupee, and people's levels of life is extremely down. His old name was Ceylon and it has two capitals: Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte as it's legislative capital since 1989 and Colombo, as it's comercial capital.

Geography facts

- India is a considered a Peninsula, thanks to the surrounding of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. - The highest mountain range in the world is located in this country: The Himalaya.

- As a big country, it has different climates and ecosystems: Thar Desert in the west, jungles in the northeast and the Ganges plain in the northern part of the country, with a really good and fertile soil.

Southern Food

As their kitchens have many coastal influences, the main ingredients used are coconut, spices and fish. Depending on the state, tamarind and chiles are used a lot for it's dishes, not to mention sweetened condensed milk.Some importantb dishes of the region are Masala Dosa, Chicken 65, appam, Hyderabadi biryani and Puttu.

Traditional Food

Bhutanese, Tibetan, Nepali, and Indian food are the most common types of gastronomy found in Bhutan. The main ingredients used in this country are, principally, chili peppers and cheese! After them, there are red rice, wheat, spices, lots of fresh and fermented vegetables, Yak meat, mushrooms and dairy products. Some of their most traditional dishes are Ema datshi, Kewa datshi, Shakam ema datshi, Phaksha paa, Juma, Zaow and Suja.

It's territory is conformed by 7 provinces and 77 districts. In which Katmandú is the capital of the country and the site of the power too. Their history goes from being an isolated country from the world until 1950 and stop being an absolut monarchy in 1990, changing for a parlamentary monarchy system since 1991. And finally, in 2008 adoptating the idea of a federal democratic republic until today.

In September 20, 2015 the country adopted a new constitution; defining the country as a secular, inclusive, and democratic state. To finish, and excatly as India, Nepal counts with a president (head of state), a prime minister (head of government) and a Council of Ministers with a bicameral legislature: the House of Representatives (Pratinidhi Sabha) and the National Assembly (Rashtriya Sabha).

Cultural Practices

On the other hand, arts and handicrafts are a representative cultural show of this country's culture. They include pottery, metalwork, painting and woodcarving!Taking in account all last comments, is important to know that almost 90% of the people are Hinduist, the others usually follow Buddhism or even both. To finish, the Newari Culture have a significant participation in the Katmandú Valley, as they are an indigenous group with it's own culture, idiom and "reign method".

Nepalese people use to have lots of traditions around arts and religion, even so, most of them are connected by this fact.To start, there are festivals like Dashain and Tihar. Moment in which families reunite and perform rituals and give gifts to each other. Other example is music and dances. With folklore and dances like Tamang Selo and Maruni, performed in special occasions or festivals.

Cultural traditions in the country

1. Vedic Chanting: Traditional way of reciting the Vedas. Composed by tonal accents and specific speech combinations.2. Ramlila: "Rama´s play" as traduction. It´s a representation of Rama's life, spreading the message "good over evil". 3. Yoga: Ancient practice for health and wellness through mind, body and soul unity with poses and guided meditation. 4. Beef consumption: Most of the population does not eat beef because of religion beliefs (hinduism). As the cows are considered sacred animals and no violence to living beings is promoted.

5. Kumbh Mela: Is a serie of holy events that meets all types of sciences and faith traditions in which you get rid of past sins. These events are donde every 3, 6, 12 and 144 years, being this last the biggest and the most important of all.

India counts with two state chambers: Low Chamber (Lok Sabha), has 1.000 deputies with long about 30 years in their position. Also, Thimphu is the capital and largest city of Bhutan. It's the political, economic, and cultural center of the country. Another important fact is that Dzongkha is the official language of Bhutan. English is also widely spoken and used for official purposes.

Traditional Food

Bangladeshi food is characterized by one specialty: Spiciness. At the same time, rice, fish, curry and lentils are the most important ingredients for these cuisine. On the other hand, Bangladesh is known for their variety of dessert, mostly made from rice and cow milk. Some staple dishes in this country are: Paratha, as kind of bread and used for breakfast. Patla Kichury, Rice with Curry, Vorta, Vaji and Daal; Haleem, Fuchka (the most popular street food) and desserts like misti doi, falooda and rasmalai.

Northern Food

All over India, the principal ingredientes are rice, wheat, lentils, and obviously, spices!In the north, Kashimiri cuisine reflects Central Asian influences by the principal usage of rice and chapatis as staple foods. Some important dishes are, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rogan Josh and Malai Ki Kheer.

On the other hand, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha are two major Islamic festivals celebrated with great enthusiasm, as they consider really important music and dance, people use to wear new clothes, exchange gifts and make traditional dances with them.

In Bangladesh, priority and validity is given by 3 characteristics: age, gender and societal position. Also, talking about societal customs, there are a lot of them about greeting, eating or visitor attitudes: a very important tradition consists of showing respect to elders by younger one's touching their feet. Also, is important to understand that the left hand is not commonly used more than for helping the principal actions that right hand is used to do.

Traditional Food

Nepalese Food is a combination of cultural heritage and techniques with influences from China, India and Tibet gastronomies.First of all, their stample and diary dish is daal-bhat-tarkari, a mix between rice, lentils and vegetables curry. On it, the most important ingredients of the regions are showed; in addition to spices like ginger, garlic, bay leaves, coriander, turmeric, black pepper and scallions, mustard oil, Yak meat and butter. Some important dishes are Dal Bhat, Gundruk, Sel Roti, Momos and Khuwa Barfi.

As the country independence was on 1971, in 1972 a constitution was written. However, the country have had lot of coups, making more difficult it's development and a stablished government. Even so, in 1991 a parliamentary system was restored, with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The parliament of Bangladesh, called the Jatiya Sangsad (House of the Nation) is a unicameral entity conformed by around 350 people choosen by direct election.

Bangladesh now consists of 8 divisions, more than 60 districts, and more than 500 upzila and thana. For this, Local government in both rural and urban regions is primarily in the hands of popularly elected executives and councils. Each division is headed by a commissioner.

In this part of the country, desserts are the stars of food, using a great variety of spices and unique tastes. Gujarat and Rajasthan are states that really samples the use of dals and achars in their daily cuisine. Those are types of preserves made for evitating lack of food and vegetables in these areas.
