Research and Brainstorming
- Look at other logo designs for inspiration.
- Find logo designs similar to your logo concept.
- What do your competitors' designs look like? Do you see a design or symbol similarity in the type of industry? A big logo don’t is to have your logo design look just like the competition. It confuses your brand.
- Determine how effective the logo design is – review and apply the descriptors from the Logo Lecture:
- Is the logo design…Simple? Timeless? Clean? Relevant? Can you describe the logo in one sentence? Memorable?
- The true test is whether the logo design is effective without color (black and white) and scalable.
Review/Critique
- Scale it – how does it look reduced or enlarged? Are any details lost? Revise.
- Test with surrounding text – how does it look like with other text? What if placed in an advertisement? Would it get lost?
- Test with multiple color palettes and without color
- Share logo design with friends, family, and classmates and gather insightful feedback and opinions.
