LOGOS
They are all a combination of typography and images, but each type of logo gives their brand a different feel. And since the logo is the first thing customers see, brands want to make sure that they will recognise them immediately.
1 - MONOGRAM LOGOS or LETTERMARKS
logos that consist of letters, usually brand initials.→ Famous businesses with rather long names, with 2 or 3 words to remember, turn their initials into a brand and a logo. Can you name 4 examples ?
2 - WORDMARKS or LOGOTYPES
a wordmark or logotype is a font-based logo that focuses on a company’s name alone. → Think about Coca-Cola. Wordmark logos work really well when a company has a succinct and distinct name. Google’s logo is a great example of this. The name itself is catchy and memorable so, when combined with strong typography, the logo helps create strong brand recognition. → typography will be an important decision. Can you name 4 examples ?
3 - PICTORIAL MARKS or LOGO SYMBOL
A pictorial mark (sometimes called brand mark or logo symbol) is an icon—or graphic-based logo. It’s probably the image that comes to mind when you think “logo”: the iconic Apple logo, the Twitter bird... → the mark alone is instantly recognizable. → The biggest thing to consider is what image to choose. This is something that will stick with the company its entire existence. Can you name 4 examples ?
4 - ABSTRACT LOGO MARK
An abstract mark is a specific type of image logo. → it’s an abstract geometric form that represents your business. abstract marks condense your brand into a single image. → Abstract logos allow you to create something truly unique → Through color and form, you can create the meaning you want and cultivate emotion around your brand. → ex :the Nike swoosh symbolizes movement and freedom. Can you name 4 examples ?
5 - MASCOTS
Mascot logos are logos that show an illustrated character. Often colorful, sometimes cartoonish, and most of the time fun, the mascot logo is a great way to create your very own brand spokesperson / character. Can you name 4 examples ?
6 - COMBINATION MARK
A combination mark is a logo made of a combined wordmark or lettermark + a pictorial mark, abstract mark, or mascot. Combination marks make sure that you associate the name with the image. → Some well-known combination mark logos include Doritos, Burger King and Lacoste. Can you name 4 examples ?
7 - THE EMBLEM
An emblem logo consists of words or letters inside a symbol or an icon, These logos tend to have a traditional appearance about them that can make a strong impact. → They are often the go-to choice for many schools, organizations or government agencies. → The auto industry is also very fond of emblem logos.
