Presentation
Leonardo da vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a painter in the Renaissance time period who used art mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and mural. Leonardo was born April 15, 1452 and lived to be 67 and died on May 2, 1519.
The mona lisa
Leonardo started working on his most famous painting in 1503 and was still in his studio in 1903 when he died, which has given people suspicions that it may not be finished. The Mona Lisa is one of the most well known paintings in the world. A neat design element that was used is the use of layering and texture. It is believed to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini. For how famous the painting is it is fairly small, measuring at 30 inches by 21 inches.
The annunciation
This painting was made in 1472 which was early in Leonardo's career of art. At just 15 Leonardo was an apprentice to the famous Andrea del Veocchino, which is where he learned to paint and sculpt. This painting shows different themes that the painter returns to where he mixes his Religious beliefs in a Renaissance setting. One design element that stuck out to me is the lines used to make the bricks in the backgroud.
ginevra de benci
This art piece was created in 1474-1478. There are only 4 paintings of females by Leonardo and this is one of them. I like how the bright blue hues contrast against the darker colors of the subject. I also like how the form of her hair is painted and the clothing. It is thought that Da Vinci was commissioned to paint this at the engagement of Ginevra.
